For Limekilm Road, the board reported that engineering work had to be revised following MassDOT comments and that MassDOT has identified approximately $1.9 million for construction. Town officials said MassDOT is asking the town to contribute about $200,000 toward the project; the board intends to include a funding article on the Dec. 1 Special Town Meeting warrant.
Board members and local stakeholders also discussed whether the bridge replacement creates an opportunity to address nearby infrastructure issues—such as collapsed culverts and farm access—that might be eligible for other grants while the road is closed. The board did not take a final funding vote at the meeting; it described the Dec. 1 Special Town Meeting as the appropriate forum for any appropriation vote.
