Union City Council approves stormwater repair, park trail contract, RTK update and broadband resolution

The streets supervisor had reported camera inspection and dye testing that showed stormwater entering sanitary lines, prompting the prioritized repair.
Councilors also awarded the Devereaux Park/French Creek Trail construction contract to Vavala Concrete, the low bidder at $84,774. Councilor Osborn moved the award and Councilor Steadman seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The bid opening and award were recorded as part of the borough’s routine procurement process.
On policy, the council approved a solicitor-recommended update to the Right-to-Know Rules and Regulations clarifying how anonymous requests will be handled. Councilor Osborn moved and Councilor Steadman seconded the change; the motion carried unanimously.
The council adopted a resolution authorizing an application to the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) for Broadband Ready Community designation and appointing the Erie Area Council of Governments to serve as the borough’s municipal broadband champion. Councilor James Kerns moved the resolution and Councilor Winkler seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
