Select Board approves hunting permission, awards surplus truck bids and OKs minor IMA revisions

The Sheffield Select Board on Nov. 17 approved several routine actions: written permission for a resident to hunt on a town-owned, landlocked 39‑acre parcel; administrative updates to the Southern Berkshire Public Health Collaborative intermunicipal agreement; and awards for two surplus trucks.
Hunting permission: the board reviewed a letter from Ron Yapel requesting permission to bow-hunt on the Bearsden Road parcel for the 2025 season and to continue hunting through shotgun and muzzle-loader seasons. Yapel stated he would follow state hunting laws and holds a firearms ID valid through April 2029. A board member moved to grant Yapel written permission; the motion was seconded and the board approved the request.
Public-health IMA: the board reviewed proposed revisions to Exhibit C of the Southern Berkshire Public Health Collaborative intermunicipal agreement to add two towns and to clarify minor language; a motion to approve the recommended changes was made, seconded and approved.
Surplus truck awards: the board reported results from a closing bid process. The winning bid for a 2015 Ford F550 was $17,200 to Bobby Gearhart of Lebanon, Pa.; the 2017 Ford F550 was recorded as awarded to Adam Nurse of Roxberry with a transcribed winning figure of "14,41" in the meeting record (the transcript is unclear on the exact amount). The board moved and voted to award the trucks to the high bidders.
Minutes and routine motions: the board also approved minutes from its Oct. 30, 2025 meeting, and took other member items and announcements. Where the transcript did not record a formal roll-call tally, the meeting record shows motions were made, seconded and approved on voice votes.
The board noted that the warrant and supporting materials for the Dec. 1 special town meeting (which will include the highway garage bond article) have been posted and will be mailed to voters.
