Town meeting voters authorized a $200,000 transfer from the stabilization fund to support replacement of the Limekill Road bridge. Officials said the total construction cost is about $2.6 million and that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation has offered to cover the majority of the cost, with the town providing the local contribution requested by DOT.
The motion to transfer $200,000 was seconded and opened to brief discussion. A speaker noted DOT’s involvement and thanked staff and state partners for securing the larger share of funding. After electronic voting, the article passed 58 yes to 1 no.
The appropriation will be used for engineering, design and incidental costs as part of the bridge replacement; the town will coordinate with state DOT on next steps and procurement.
