At the Sept. 8 meeting the Select Board made several routine personnel and permit decisions.
Appointments: The board appointed Cheryl Blackburn to a three-year seat on the Conservation Commission; it also appointed Nathaniel Ceremony as a full-time officer. The board accepted Patrick Silk’s offer to serve as an alternate delegate to the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission. James Kelly and Ben Webb were announced as candidates for the Agricultural and Housing Commissions, respectively; the board will consider their nominations at a future meeting.
Permits and events: The board approved a request to hold a small wedding at the Upper Sheffield covered bridge on Halloween (about 12 guests, no alcohol, no chairs, and a small music speaker). The board also approved multiple one-day alcohol permits for Dewey Hall for dates in September through December, contingent on receipt of a certificate of insurance; one member recorded opposition during the vote on the permits.
Resignation: The board accepted the resignation of Nicole Roarish from the town hall, noting her last day as Sept. 4, and agreed to send a letter of thanks for her service.
All actions were handled by motion and voice vote; where requested, appointments will be revisited at a future meeting and some nominees will be considered formally at a later date.
