Town staff said the Select Board met recently and will ask voters at a special town meeting whether to contribute $200,000 toward the project. That contribution would leave an estimated funding gap of about $1.9 million; staff said the state is investigating whether emergency funds can be used to cover the remainder.
"200,000 would be a small price to pay to have that bridge put back in service," a Select Board member said during the discussion, urging support for placing the funding question before voters.
No formal appropriation or binding vote to put the article on a warrant was recorded at the meeting; the board agreed to proceed with planning and staff will follow up with state contacts about additional funding options.
