Council approves seal-coat contract and several storm-sewer repairs totaling about $103,924

The Denison City Council approved multiple public-works contracts and repair estimates at its May 6 meeting.
Engineer Jason Eygabroad reported the 2025 Airport Street Seal Coat project bid came in under the engineer’s estimate. The council awarded the Notice of Award contract to Blacktop Service for $60,644.56 (motion by Zupp-Smith, seconded by Logan; approved unanimously).
Council also approved a $1,500 Change Order #1 from OnTrack Construction, LLC (motion by Zupp-Smith, seconded by Curnyn). After staff reported a separated storm sewer pipe on North 24th Street that created a washout, the council approved OnTrack’s estimate for the North 24th Street storm-sewer repair on a time-and-material basis up to $15,000 (motion by Zupp-Smith, seconded by Curnyn). The council approved a separate OnTrack estimate for 1st Avenue South storm-sewer repair in the amount of $26,780 (motion by Zupp-Smith, seconded by Curnyn). All motions were recorded as carrying unanimously.
Separately, Eygabroad reviewed the 2nd Avenue South reconstruction timeline: plans expected to be approved in June 2025 with a July bid letting and construction planned for late summer/early fall or early spring; the project will include three blocks of full reconstruction and a new storm sewer.
