During discussion of a separate zoning matter, resident Melvin Totten requested a zoning change for a mobile‑home park at 1903 3rd Avenue South. The council advised Totten to file either a variance or a special‑use permit with the Board of Adjustments because the request raised compliance issues with existing zoning requirements.
The council’s adoption of the parking ordinance and its action to set the zoning hearing were made by motion and recorded as carried unanimously. The hearing on proposed zoning changes is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on June 17, 2025, in Denison City Council Chambers.
The council’s action on the Totten request did not constitute a zoning change; it was a procedural direction to pursue the appropriate administrative process through the Board of Adjustments.
