The City Council approved several capital contracts and purchase orders related to parks, utilities and streets during its Feb. 24 meeting.
Recreation Superintendent Nate Schwanki presented a contract award to Mau Fence Company LLC for up to $324,000 to replace fencing, backstops and dugouts at Christian Christensen Field, with an optional $50,000 upgrade for black vinyl-coated fencing to improve corrosion resistance and player safety. Council approved the contract 7–0.
Utility General Manager Jeff Shanahan requested authority to purchase additional electric meters to complete the city’s advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) rollout. Shanahan said about 4,000 of roughly 16,000 total meters have been installed; the requested purchase of meters for $782,351.90 will allow deployment of another tranche and improve radio coverage for water and gas meters. Council authorized the purchase order unanimously and staff said they will return for a final phase later.
Public Works Director Dan Gillis presented the 2026 pavement-rehab contract and recommended CRM Concrete LLC’s low bid of $300,777 to replace concrete panels in seven locations (about 3,000 square yards). Staff noted additional change-order opportunities to spend remaining budgeted funds if the contractor can accommodate them; council approved the award 7–0.
All three procurement actions were approved without dissent.
