Fremont council confirms mayoral appointees including new city engineer and police promotions

The Fremont City Council on Feb. 24 consented to multiple appointments put forward by Mayor Dola Dev Sookram.
The council approved Resolution 2026-040 to appoint Anna Allen as City Engineer, effective March 16, 2026, and later amended and approved Resolution 2026-041 to appoint Allen as Street Superintendent as well, replacing the name Troy Schaben in the prior draft. Both motions passed 7-0 with Councilmember Peterson recorded as absent.
The council also consented to the Mayor's appointment of Seth Howard to Police Sergeant and the appointment of Daniel Rucker and Darrel Russell as police officers. A motion to appoint Monica Eby to the Creative Council for a term ending Aug. 13, 2026 passed by the same 7-0 margin. All actions were taken by voice vote with recorded yea votes by Jensen, Ganem, Vaughan, Lathrop, Marsh, Horner and Von Behren; Peterson was absent.
