The Denison City Council on June 17 adopted Ordinance #1576, which amends Chapter 40 of the City Code concerning provisions pertaining to public offenses, and set a July 15 public hearing on proposed zoning changes to parcels owned by Daniel and Patricia Ahart.
Council moved to waive the second and third readings of Ordinance #1576 and then adopted the ordinance; the motions carried unanimously. The council also introduced and approved Resolution #2025-32 to set a public hearing on zoning changes to the Ahart parcels for July 15, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
Mayor Pamela Soseman also provided several local updates at the meeting, including plans for a retirement reception for Library Director Monica Walley and work on Uptown wayfinding signage. Engineer Jason Eygabroad noted that Senate File 574 will reduce retainage to 3 percent for projects bid after July 1, 2025, a change the city will consider for upcoming contracts.
