Council authorizes RFP for 4x4 fire tanker; Chief says purchase would be cash-funded and budgeted

The Denison City Council on April 15 moved forward with a Request for Proposal for a 4x4 tanker fire apparatus after hearing an estimate of $380,000 to $430,000 from Fire Chief Snowgren.
Chief Snowgren told the council the department intends to purchase the tanker with cash on hand and that the acquisition is budgeted for the next fiscal year. He said staff will evaluate trade-in options or marketing the current tanker to help offset costs.
Councilmember Logan moved to authorize the RFP; Zupp-Smith seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The action directs staff to solicit proposals and return with recommended procurement options when available.
