Board signs MnDOT cooperative agreement, approves city funding agreements and accepts donations

The Wright County Board on June 16 authorized signatures on a MnDOT cooperative construction agreement (resolution 26‑44), approved two city funding participation agreements and accepted several county donations, with all actions approved unanimously.

Mark Metice (S7) told the board the county will lead the MnDOT project and construction is scheduled to begin in July; he said state grants cover the project cost and the county has no local share for the agreement. The board adopted resolution 26‑44 by roll‑call vote.

The board also approved funding participation and construction agreement 2651 with the City of Clearwater; county staff said the city will manage sewer mains, utility relocations and trail construction for a short corridor of the project and noted bids open June 29.

Agreement 2652 with the City of Albertville was approved after Commissioner Holland flagged the city’s repeated concern about lane closures and prior traffic gridlock. Holland asked staff to confirm with the county engineer that planned work would avoid lane closures during the city’s event; staff agreed to follow up.

County staff presented resolution 26‑43 to accept several donations: a memorial‑bench update donated by a resident (listed in the packet as $4,320.06), a $500 archery target from Veradine Outdoors for the Hasty Silver Creek Archery Range, and Lake Maria‑Louisa Lake Association donations to fund AIS education/monitoring (values recorded in the packet totaling about $16,300 and a separate allocation of $2,580 for monitoring). Staff said the bench donation will cover its project cost; the board accepted the donations unanimously.

All three agenda items were approved without opposition; staff were asked to follow up on the Albertville lane‑closure concern with the county engineer.
