Youngren Family named Wright County 2026 Farm Family of the Year

The Wright County Board of Commissioners on June 2 adopted Resolution 2640 to recognize the Youngren Family Farm as the 2026 Wright County Farm Family of the Year.

Administrator Kreiser read the resolution noting the University of Minnesota Farm Family Recognition Program honors multi-generation farms and commending the family’s contributions to agriculture and community life. The reading traced the farm's history to a 1941 purchase by Theodore and Eunice Youngren and later purchases in 1968; the resolution and the presenter described multiple generations farming near Waverly, Minnesota.

Taylor Herbert of the University of Minnesota Extension presented the county-level recognition and described the family as a multi-generational dairy operation that recently completed a calf barn in January 2024. Herbert said the operation milks and raises replacement heifers and about 40 butcher steers; the transcript included two herd-size figures (115 Holsteins in the resolution text and 150 Holsteins in the extension remarks).
