Members stressed that the charter-review panel’s charge is limited to charter language and not to changing the town’s form of government.
Councilor Spagon and Councilor Trocchio spoke in favor of the order, noting that written guardrails help the new committee understand its parameters. "I think it really provides them the understanding of their parameters," Councilor Trocchio said. The committee moved and seconded a recommendation to the full council and recorded vocal assent; the chair declared the order recommended to the council.
The committee did not establish membership for the Charter Review Committee during the meeting. Next steps: the recommendation will be forwarded to the full Town Council for a vote and for any appointments or further direction.
