The council resolved that department heads provided input but did not direct the choice of hire.
The resolution and the attached employment agreement are public records, the council noted, and a copy will be available at the council office for those who wish to review it. The council reported that Waters accepted the offer and that staff will begin scheduling onboarding and training ahead of his May 4 start.
Council members said they were optimistic about Waters' selection and encouraged the community's support during the transition. The council's approval was unanimous.
