Auburndale backs utility easement for Southern Force Main and approves a right-of-way vacation

The Auburndale City Commission on June 16 approved a support resolution required for a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission easement that would allow the City to install a 24‑inch wastewater force main across property at the Tenoroc Fish Management Area.
City staff said the Southern Force Main Re‑Route was identified in the city’s 2023 Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility Service Area Study as a needed sewer collection improvement to reroute flows away from the Regional Master Lift Station directly to the Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility. The proposed easement would allow roughly 1,800 linear feet of 24‑inch force main in a north‑to‑south alignment across Tenoroc property and a roughly 100‑foot extension to connect the city’s Hickory Road Sprayfield to the south. Staff said a support resolution from the Commission is required for the city’s easement request to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission; the body approved Resolution No. 2025‑02 by unanimous vote after the City Attorney read the resolution by title.
Separately, the Commission approved Resolution No. 2025‑01 to vacate and abandon a portion of an unimproved right‑of‑way west on Morgan Street at the request of property owners Carlos Valentin and Betty Cruz Hernandez of 31 Morgan Street. The petition to vacate is conditioned on the reservation of a utility easement for city use. Community Development Director Julie Womble presented both items; there was no public comment on either matter and both measures passed by voice vote (motions and seconds recorded; votes: all ayes).
Staff characterized the Tenoroc easement as necessary to advance the Southern Force Main project and to enable development of city-owned sprayfield property adjacent to Tenoroc. The Commission’s support resolution does not itself grant the easement; the action formalizes the city’s support as part of the FWC review process.
