Officials: new boardwalk concession to open soon; promenade construction and signage set to begin after Fourth of July

Bradley Beach — Borough officials told residents the new concession on the boardwalk — located where a sewer pump station once stood — is in the final phase of plumbing and electrical work and is expected to open within one to two weeks after missing the Fourth of July weekend.
Councilwoman Greenblad asked when the concession and restrooms would be ready; borough staff said finishing touches (plumbing, electrical, a grease trap and kitchen equipment) remain and that the concessioner hopes to begin operations as soon as final inspections and minor fixes are complete. To compensate for the lost summer weeks, the council previously reduced the concession fee to $5,000 for the first year of a five-year contract and indicated it may lower the fee further to help the concessioner have a profitable first season.
Officials also said signage for the promenade extension will arrive imminently: 10 signs are due to be delivered and some will be posted immediately on Fourth Avenue South and other nearby approaches; additional signs tied to temporary fencing will go up after fencing is installed on July 6. The signs will include a large QR code directing beachgoers to the borough website for regular updates about construction and timeline.
Borough staff said construction on the promenade extension will begin the week of July 6, after the holiday weekend, and that they will provide updates on the borough website.
No formal council action was recorded on the concession or signage during the meeting; the remarks were provided as project updates during the public comment portion of the agenda.
