Council approves $15,000 allocation for Fourth of July parade security

The City Council approved Resolution No. 1881 on June 22 authorizing the mayor to execute Amendment No. 1 to the provision-of-service agreement with the chamber of commerce to provide additional funding for Fourth of July parade security.
Parks Director Lina Hicks said the $15,000 (previously authorized by council) would be allocated as follows: $8,500 for barriers along the parade route, $2,500 to cover overtime compensation for six additional city staff, and $4,000 to the chamber for hiring security and event staffing. The council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote.
The funds were described as reallocating previously authorized money; no new appropriation was announced.
