Council reports cameras and signs repaired, schedules floor refinishing and waives rental fee for charity bazaar

At the Aug. 20 meeting, Councilmember Herb Robins reported several town maintenance and facilities updates: Shelby County IT Director Tyrus Kidd brought security cameras back online after Wayne Jones repaired a broken cable; the ISV entry sign on Highway 119 by I-65 is finished; the Woodfern Drive street sign was repaired; and parts for a damaged Grimes Road sign have been ordered and will be repaired when they arrive. Robins presented a quote from Reliable Signs for four Indian Springs Village signs to be installed at the Oak Mountain Schools; the council temporarily tabled that project pending further research.
Robins also said he will schedule sanding and refinishing of the Town Hall meeting room floor. Separately, Mayor Brenda Bell-Guercio reported that Miss Oak Mountain Teen requested to hold a Christmas bazaar at the Multi-Purpose Building on Nov. 17, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m. The council determined that Indian Springs Village would waive the rental fee because the contestant is sponsored by the town; proceeds will go to the ALS Foundation.
