City Manager Malzahn presented the proposed FY 2026-27 budget to the Marlette City Council at the March 23 special meeting, outlining projected revenues and expenditures, employee wage and health insurance contributions, and a list of planned projects.
Malzahn provided supporting documents for the proposed budget and told council members that the city had identified $88,000 in new funding from the Michigan Neighborhood Road Fund. Council members asked questions about the school resource officer contract, sidewalk replacement plans and equipment needs for the Department of Public Works. Mayor Bush thanked staff and employees for a concession on health insurance contributions, noting the employee share will rise to 8% next fiscal year.
The session was a review; the transcript records questions and discussion but no formal budget adoption vote during the March 23 meeting.
