Facilities committee recommends Martindale demolition, roof replacements and abatement RFPs

Director Joseph Bulock presented the assessments and said his recommendation in the packet is to demolish Martindale and to clean out and preserve Fairplane Northeast for inclusion in the district's master facilities plan. He said RFPs for abatement are about 60% complete and that the district expects a typical 10-day turnaround from contractors once RFPs are issued.
On capital work at the high school, Bulock reported the gym floor refinish is complete and that painting and steam-cleaning of bleachers will follow. He also reported bids for PAC and band-area roof replacements; the packet lists a lowest bid line shown in the materials as "100 $166,616" for both roofs and notes a preferred contractor offered a 20-year warranty. Trustees asked which roofs are prioritized before winter and the director said the PAC and stage-area leaks are pressing operational issues.
Bulock also reported that boilers were turned on across the district, that several older piping elbows have been replaced after showing damage, and that the team will continue mechanical walkthroughs to reduce the risk of failures during a forecast of a severe winter.
