Chairman John Black presented the county dispatch report for calendar year 2025 at the Feb. 17 meeting. He said dispatch handled roughly 116,000 non-emergency phone calls and about 11,200 911 calls; of the 911 contacts, 108 were received via text-to-911. Black reported 5,553 EMS runs and 23,791 police calls for the year, noting that the sheriff’s office handled 14,935 of those police calls. He said the combined total of police, fire and EMS calls for 2025 was 38,689.
Black also reported the dispatch center had one part-time opening with five applicants and had completed a state compliance audit with only minor findings that were promptly addressed. He said a MEVO kit (a portable 911 service unit) is expected in March and that dispatchers will use an on-site 911 simulator for training at the finance meeting that afternoon.
Board members responded with brief comments noting the maturity of text-to-911 capability and the volume of calls; no policy action was taken during this report. Black’s figures were presented as the dispatch office’s annual statistics and will be reflected in departmental reporting.
