The Piscataway Township Council on June 30 adopted Ordinance 2026‑12 authorizing acquisition of 30 Murray Avenue (block 1906, lot 33.01) for a public purpose under NJSA 48:12‑1.
Ms. Seader read the ordinance into the record and Councilwoman Gabrielle Cahill moved for adoption; Councilmember Dennis Espinosa seconded. Councilmembers voted unanimously in favor, and the ordinance was assigned number 2026‑12 for publication on the township website as required.
Officials said the property sits adjacent to the West Library and noted the township may use the parcel for future library expansion, building space or parking depending on future needs. The council opened the public hearing required for a second reading, heard no speakers on the acquisition and closed the public portion before the unanimous roll call adoption.
Next steps: the ordinance will be published on the township website and become effective per statutory posting requirements once signed and posted by the township clerk.
