During the April 23 meeting the Town Engineer reported two complaints concerning 43 Fiske Mill Road: the installation of two water fountains in a pond (the Town Engineer said at least one appeared to have been installed prior to the Notice of Intent process) and fencing and decoys placed in ways that may impede wildlife movement, particularly turtles.
The Town Engineer said the fencing was installed by the homeowner to deter beaver damage to shoreline vegetation and that the town engaged a trapper to remove beavers to safeguard the town dam. The Commission recommended requiring the homeowner to remove fencing where it extends onto town property and said it may request voluntary removal on the homeowner's land. The Commission also asked staff to request model and installation details for the fountains to confirm they include protections for fish and other wildlife.
The Commission asked staff to send homeowners a letter notifying them of the reported violations and to provide details about the fountains and fencing.
