Sharon Parks and Recreation Committee requests town buy director phone, backs board appointment

The Sharon Parks and Recreation Committee voted June 3 to request that the Town of Sharon purchase a certified pre-owned iPhone 15 for the Parks and Recreation Director and to ask the Board of Selectmen to appoint John Morrissey to the board.
The committee approved a motion, moved by M. Purdy and seconded by M. Levengood, to “Request that the Town of Sharon purchase an iphone 15, certified pre-owned at a cost of $415.99 and with a monthly price of $55.00 for use by the Parks and Recreation Director.” Committee members said providing a town phone would protect the director’s personal privacy and ensure continuity for future directors. The motion carried with all voting in favor.
The group also voted, on a motion by M. Levengood seconded by R. Aakjar, to request that the Board of Selectmen appoint John Morrissey to the Board of Parks and Recreation; the minutes say Morrissey had submitted a letter of interest and attended the May meeting. Earlier in the agenda the committee approved the minutes of its previous meeting.
The committee set its next monthly meeting for Thursday, July 9, to avoid Wednesday concert dates and adjourned at 7:50 PM.
