Jackson County approves amendment to outside counsel contract and signs Starlink terms for emergency connectivity

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners approved two orders on June 10 authorizing legal services and satellite internet service agreements.
County Administrator Danny Jordan described Garrett Hemann Robertson P.C. as outside counsel retained to provide specialized legal representation for the county; the Board approved Amendment No. 1 to that services contract under Order No. 137‑26 following a motion by Commissioner Randy Sparacino and a second by Commissioner Rick Dyer. Both commissioners voted aye.
Separately, the Board authorized Order No. 138‑26 to accept Starlink terms of service with Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX). Mr. Jordan said the county requires satellite internet equipment and service to support continuity of operations and ensure reliable connectivity when traditional communications infrastructure is unavailable or insufficient. Commissioner Sparacino moved to approve the order; Commissioner Dyer seconded and both voted aye.
The meeting record shows the votes were 2–0 in favor with Commissioner Colleen Roberts absent. There was no extended discussion recorded on either order.
