External evaluator reports superintendent and CSFO rated "accomplished"; board discusses communication as area for growth

Eugenia Slocum of the Alabama Association of School Boards presented results of evaluations for the superintendent and the chief school finance officer (CSFO), reporting that board, direct-report and stakeholder surveys returned overall ratings of “accomplished.”
Slocum described a revised evaluation scale (not demonstrated, progressing, proficient, accomplished) and said the district used both board and stakeholder input; the superintendent and CSFO received “accomplished” across most standards. Slocum noted that stakeholders rated some fiscal and professional categories as “proficient” on the stakeholder survey, and she identified ongoing communication and stakeholder engagement as opportunities for growth.
For the CSFO, anonymous peer and board surveys produced ratings of “accomplished” from the board and “proficient” among internal peers; strengths cited included professionalism, knowledge of guidelines, and collaboration. Slocum said goals have been set for continuing improvement and commended the district’s evaluation process as productive.
Board members thanked the evaluator for the review and asked follow-up questions; no formal board action was required.
