Council adopts amendment to allow corporate flags with size limits after planning staff review

Planning staff said the amendment responds to an applicant request and clarifies that the maximum corporate flag area will be the lesser of 40 square feet or the area of the largest governmental flag flown on the property.
The amendment was introduced at the meeting, duly introduced by council and approved by roll call; the council then voted on the bill as amended and the bill passed on the record. Planning staff said the change will remove permitting uncertainty for some nonprofit and corporate flags while retaining limits that preserve the intent of the sign chapter.
Council members had no further questions after staff explanation and supported the amendment’s clarifying language.
