The Town of Easton Conservation Commission on April 28, 2026 continued the public hearing for the 26‑lot Saddle Ridge subdivision to June 1, 2026, and reviewed two small residential applications that commissioners asked staff to verify in the field.
Attorney Wilson Carroll and principal draftsman Darin Overton appeared for EG Homes LLC to describe updates to the Saddle Ridge plan, which Carroll said is "less intense" than earlier filings and includes about 65 acres of proposed open space. Commissioners asked the applicants to submit color‑coded maps that delineate wetlands and the 100‑foot regulated area on each lot, show lot sizes, and clarify whether the proposed open space is contiguous and how it will be accessed. Chair Dori Wollen requested that roadways, detention basins and each house site be staked for a joint site walk and asked applicants to notify staff when staking is complete.
A continuance was requested in a letter from Attorney Carroll so applicants could complete plan revisions. Commissioner Karin Niesyn moved to continue the public hearing to June 1, 2026 ‘‘to allow peer reviewers and commission members time to examine proposed revisions''; Commissioner Kevin Kilner seconded and the motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
Under new applications, owner Shamsher Lambda presented #26‑741, seeking to enclose an existing 20‑foot by 16‑foot deck with a sunroom; he estimated the deck is approximately 20 feet from the Mill River. Chair Wollen asked him to flag the area for inspection. Janet Weinstock Isa appeared for #26‑742, an after‑the‑fact filing to rebuild a retaining wall to prevent erosion that she said threatened her generator; the chair asked that site be flagged and the applicant advised to file the formal application documentation.
Commissioners scheduled a joint site walk for Saddle Ridge (applicants to stake roadways and basins) and noted deadlines for staff and peer review tied to the June 1 continuance. The commission also set standard follow‑up steps for the residential applications, asking staff to verify setbacks from the Mill River and confirm whether the retaining wall work is within the regulated area before further action.
The commission will review submitted revised plans and peer‑review comments at a future meeting following the June 1 continuance.
