Easton fire marshal warns: 'The Fire Danger is High'; burning restricted and public outreach planned

Fire Marshal Schuyler Sherwood told the Board on April 15 that dry conditions have raised the town’s fire danger. “It is dry and the Fire Danger is High,” Sherwood said, and he described an outreach push in the Town newsletter and a planned grilling‑safety message.
Sherwood said the department will restrict open burning over the next month while the fire danger remains elevated and reported that “we have issued nearly 50 permits.” He directed residents to state resources at www.ct.gov/firesafe and said his office will look for additional ways to share safety information.
Sherwood also noted the department will host the Region 1 School Safety work group before the next meeting to coordinate school‑related safety efforts.
Commissioners agreed to attach the monthly call report to posted minutes after a request from Gloria Bindelglass.
