Caldwell Board of Health calls for website updates after council approves contract adding inspections

The Caldwell Board of Health on Feb. 10 noted that the city council approved an addendum to a shared-services contract that adds inspections of certain establishments effective Jan. 1, 2026, and the board called for clearer online meeting notices and health information.

Barbara Buechner, the council liaison, told the board that the "Addendum to the Shared Services Contract Modification of Existing Contract to Include Inspections of Certain Establishments, Effective January 1, 2026," had been approved after a second reading at the Council meeting on Feb. 3 and reminded members that meeting dates and agendas must be posted on the Caldwell webpage no later than the Friday before a meeting, “as dictated by state law.”

President Betty Sullivan asked that the Health Department newsletters be posted both on the Board of Health webpage and on the Health and Human Services page and be updated monthly. Sullivan also asked each board member to review the roster for corrections and questioned the verity of wording on the Board of Health webpage that stated COVID tests were being distributed free of charge; she requested that that statement be removed as inaccurate. Sullivan said the board will follow the agenda order set out in its by-laws going forward.

The board did not take a formal vote on the contract (the addendum was approved by the city council on Feb. 3). The board recorded the council action and recorded administrative directions about web postings and roster review. The board adjourned at 7:07 p.m.; its next meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2026.
