Conservation official presents updated open-space and watershed maps to Affordable Housing Committee

Dori Wollen, introduced in meeting materials as a conservation official and described during remarks as chair of the Wetlands Committee, presented the Affordable Housing Committee with updated open-space and watershed maps at its May 4 meeting.
Wollen said the town's Open Space Plan dates to 2016 and is currently being revised to account for acreage the town and local land trusts have acquired since then. She told the committee that changes in protected acreage affect regional buildable-land estimates used by METROCOG, the regional planning organization.
Chairwoman Beverlee Dacey said she would work with Wollen to make printed copies of the maps available to committee members for ongoing review. The presentation also noted that the Aspetuck Land Trust recently acquired additional land, which the committee identified as a factor in updating the town's land-use element.
The committee did not take formal action on the Open Space Plan at the meeting; members agreed to review the maps and incorporate updated acreage counts into the committee's pending work on housing policy.
The committee's next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 11.
