The Town of Union Board on Dec. 4 adopted a resolution to call a public hearing on Dec. 18, 2024 to consider rezoning 630 Scarborough Drive (Tax Map #157.08-9-47) from Industrial to Open Space for the proposed conversion of a warehouse structure to a crematorium. Councilman David Kudgus offered the resolution and Councilman Thomas R. Augostini seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The resolution formally places the rezoning question on the Dec. 18 public hearing agenda so residents may offer comment before any zoning change is adopted. Carol Leskowski, who identified herself during the hearing of visitors, asked the board where the proposed crematorium in Endicott was seeking approval to build, saying she wanted clarification of the site under consideration.
The board did not adopt a rezoning ordinance on Dec. 4; it only scheduled the public hearing for Dec. 18 to collect input. The public hearing will be held as part of the Town Board meeting on Dec. 18, 2024, at which point the Board may take further action after hearing public comment.
