Town of Union receives bids for Airport Road, Pheasant Lane and Fairview pump station projects

For the Airport Road Drainage project the minutes list multiple bidders with the two lowest bids at $324,000 from G. DeVincentis & Sons and F.P. Kane. For Pheasant Lane Reconstruction the low bid listed was G. DeVincentis & Sons at $1,142,000. For Fairview Pump Station Improvements the low bid listed was Blanding Electric at $231,100. Each group of bids was received on motion by Councilman Thomas R. Augostini, seconded by Councilman Frank J. Bertoni, and the motions carried.
During the hearing of visitors, resident Bob Utter asked for more specifics about the Airport Road Drainage project; Councilman Augostini said he attended a recent IDA Zoom meeting where participants discussed an environmental review grant and engaging engineering firms for layout work but the board did not have project engineering specifics to offer at the meeting. The board will proceed with standard procurement steps and next actions will depend on review of the bids and any necessary funding approvals.
