The Hackberry Elementary School District #3 Governing Board reviewed progress on the district—s corrective action plan responding to the Auditor General and awarded a three-event audit contract to CWDL at its July 8 meeting.
Business Manager Sam Dell told the board that 20 of 41 audit findings have been addressed through new policies and procedures and that documentation and process improvements are ongoing; Dell was assigned to continue work on the remaining items. The board then considered bids related to RFP 2025.001 for auditing services and voted to contract with CWDL for audits covering fiscal years 2024 through 2027. Pam Adams moved to approve the CWDL contract; Valerie Grimes seconded and the minutes record the vote as Passed 5-0.
The minutes do not include contract dollar amounts, scope-of-work language, or whether CWDL is a local or regional auditing firm. The record also does not list individual member votes on the contract; the motion outcome is recorded as a 5-0 approval. The board discussed scheduling future Requests for Proposals for subsequent audit years.
Board members emphasized ongoing improvements in documentation and asset-tracking noted in the business manager—s financial report. Follow-up work on unresolved Auditor General findings was assigned to the business manager.
