Clever School District approves personnel, board chair says district still short on drivers and one special-education teacher

The Clever School District board approved the meeting agenda and personnel recommendations in a special-called session and heard a brief staffing update from Board Chair Dr. Quinn.

Dr. Quinn told those present that the board approved personnel "as presented in executive session" and that the approvals passed "without objection." He said the district is "almost completely staffed," but added that it is "one special education teacher down at Oakd Middle School" and currently short on bus drivers. "We are four bus drivers down," Dr. Quinn said, adding that the district expects "three more underway to finish their CDL very soon," and that leaders believe they "can get by to start the beginning of the year." He also noted the district would consider filling the special-education vacancy if a candidate graduates in December.

The personnel items had been discussed in executive session; the board did not provide public roll-call vote counts during the meeting, and approvals were recorded as having passed without objection. After the staffing comments, a motion to conclude the meeting was made and seconded; the board adjourned.

The staffing shortfalls cited by Dr. Quinn — one special-education vacancy and a shortfall of bus drivers — could affect class coverage and transportation at the start of the school year. District officials did not give additional details about recruitment timelines, candidate names, salaries, or whether substitutes or temporary routes would be used to cover any gaps.
