Houston council tables multiple consent items; Railroad Avenue agreement expected next week

At its Oct. 2 meeting the Town of Houston council removed several consent-agenda items for later review and approved the remaining consent items; Mayor Gregory Wingo said a Railroad Avenue agreement should arrive next week and the proposed fee schedule will be available at the Nov. 6 meeting.
The Town of Houston Council on Oct. 2 voted to remove multiple items from the Consent Agenda and table them until the Nov. 6, 2025 meeting, citing missing files or computer issues.
Items pulled and tabled included: meeting minutes for 7/3, 8/7 and 9/30/25; special council meeting minutes for 9/16 and 9/30; executive meeting minutes for 9/4/25; Charter & Ordinance committee minutes from 2/19/25 (not yet received from the committee chair); Event Committee minutes (2/27 and 4/9/25) that the mayor has but needs to distribute; Finance statement of revenue & expenditures (to be reviewed at the Nov. 6 meeting); the Tax Collector's report on past-due taxes for FY2025 (to be confirmed and provided to the town lawyer); the Mayor's monthly report (to be distributed); and the Code Enforcement report (documentation pending).
After removing those items, Mayor Gregory Wingo moved to approve the remaining Consent Agenda items; Councilwoman Robin Adkins seconded and the motion carried.
In Old Business, Mayor Wingo said the council should receive an agreement regarding Railroad Avenue by next week and that he would forward it to the town solicitor and council for review. He also said the proposed fee schedule will be available for the November meeting. The council adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
