Emmet County supervisors approve minutes, review committee updates and add tax-suspension request to next agenda

The Emmet County Board of Supervisors convened June 23 in the courthouse board room. Chair Lisa Hansen called the meeting to order and members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Vice-Chair Tim Schumacher moved and Supervisor Todd Glasnapp seconded approval of the June 16, 2026 minutes (also approved for publication). Supervisor Jeff Quastad moved and Supervisor John Pluth seconded approval of the meeting agenda. Both motions were recorded as passing with all ayes.
Supervisors provided brief committee updates: Schumacher noted upcoming Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission (NWIPDC) and RIDES meetings; Quastad said a Board of Adjustment meeting and Housing Trust session were postponed; Hansen reported involvement with SHIELD and Early Childhood programs and department head meetings; Glasnapp noted NWIa Housing activity. Hansen, Pluth and Glasnapp attended a Wallingford Fire Department fundraiser; Goebel said Ringsted Library will receive a grant that fulfills a local match.
Emmet County resident Heather Goodman requested via email that the county suspend her property taxes. Supervisor Quastad asked that the county attorney review the file; the item was added to next week's agenda for formal consideration. The board discussed the county's planned participation in the 99 County Tour on June 30, with visits to the West Administration addition, the Meteorite Center and the Secondary Roads new shop.
The meeting ended with a motion by Quastad, seconded by Schumacher, to adjourn at 10:23 a.m.; the motion passed with all ayes. The board adjourned to relocate drainage files to the West Administration Building.
