Board approves student 'road crew' names for new campus roads

Students from Clover School District’s road-crew project presented recommended names for six roads on the new Lake W. campus and the board approved the recommendations on a motion made and accepted without objection.

During a student-led presentation, participants described their choices and the reasoning behind them. Kayen, a student presenter, said the pink road was named “Energy Loop” to represent “the positive energy of students arriving at school.” Students from Crowder Creek proposed “Blue Lightning Way” to reflect school colors and local weather themes; Griggs students recommended the main campus approach “American Avenue” to connect to school patriot themes. Oakridge Elementary students suggested “Gold Rush Drive”; Oakridge Middle students proposed “Electric Avenue” for the primary entrance; Ninth Grade Campus students suggested “Radioactive Highway” for the longest road as a spirited athletic taunt. Board members praised the student work and, without objection, approved the district road crew’s naming recommendations for the roads off Cannonball Run. Certificates were presented to the student team following the vote.

The approval was taken during the public business meeting as part of the superintendent’s report; the action was recorded as approved without a recorded roll-call tally. The road-name approvals will be used in on-site signage and incorporated into construction plans for the new campus.
