Mattawan council approves manager contract, backs Paw Paw pathway and pays security invoice

The Village of Mattawan council approved a revised employment contract for Village Manager McGrew after a closed-session review, voted to express support for a proposed multi-use pathway between Mattawan and Paw Paw, and authorized payment for building security work at its March 23 meeting.
Council approved Manager McGrew’s contract on a motion by Streeter, seconded by Daniel, following a closed session to review the manager’s terms. Attorney Graham made adjustments to the contract; the minutes record that "all members voted in favor." Monroe was recorded as absent earlier in the meeting.
The council also considered a resolution expressing support for a multi-use pathway between Mattawan and Paw Paw in Antwerp Township. After a voice vote and roll call, Begeman, Daniel, McLean and Streeter voted yes; Gurley and President Smit Stuut voted no. The motion carried 4–2.
On procurement, the council approved payment of an $8,456.00 invoice from Michigan Security and Lock. The packet notes an earlier initial approval figure of $6,476.00 and that the Village received a $2,500 grant from Par Plan; the council’s motion to pay the full $8,456.00 passed unanimously.
Clerk Jolie Storm-Artis raised compliance with the ADA Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 Level AA). On a motion by Daniel, seconded by Stuut, the council agreed to address WCAG compliance at the next budget special meeting.
Other routine items approved by unanimous vote included the consent agenda (March 9 minutes and bills totaling $45,327.67) and excusing Member Monroe for the meeting.
