Mr. Dylan presented the draft 2025–26 academic calendar and described the district’s continued use of a modified balance model to allow earlier start dates and intercessions during the year. “This will be the 25‑26 calendar,” Mr. Dylan said, outlining an Aug. 4 start, an October intercession, a two‑week winter break, a February intercession and spring break, and noting graduation will again end on a Thursday.
Staff described adjustments to early‑release and half‑day scheduling based on principal and teacher feedback; the draft moves some early releases to occur the week before interim report distribution so teachers can complete grading and report preparation. The presentation noted ongoing outreach: meetings with principals, a parent advisory committee and an open 10‑day survey planned for late September.
During the community comment period, Rick Lale, a teacher at Clover High School, suggested moving two intercession days to Thanksgiving week so families could have the full holiday week off. “...move two days from the intercession to Thanksgiving week to give us the full Thanksgiving week,” Lale said. Administration said the suggestion had been received from several staff members and will be considered alongside coordination with neighboring districts that may align calendars.
No final action was taken; the board directed staff to continue stakeholder outreach and return with refined proposals.
