Clover board approves superintendent contract, hears summer-program and community recognition

The Clover School District Board of Trustees approved the agenda, minutes, personnel actions discussed in executive session and the superintendents contract renewal by unanimous voice consent at its monthly business meeting.
Dr. Quinn opened the recognitions segment by honoring students who represented the district at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America national conference and local partners who supported a large back-to-school bash. He singled out student awardees and community sponsors, including a coalition led by Pastor Ray Scott that provided hundreds of backpacks and the MayDay Project, which funded shoes and higher-education scholarships for two students experiencing homelessness.
In a separate presentation, Clover High School staff showcased the districts summer camp program. Two campers, Brett de Massie and Maiden Jones, described hands-on activities and coursework that they said helped them stay engaged and prepare for fall assessments. "This is my third year," Brett said, praising the competitions and projects; Maiden said the program helped her open up socially and prepare for biology class.
The board also recognized district staff and partners: Piedmont Medical Center for on-site medical support at the bash, Office Depot and Food Lion for volunteer and material support, and the districts finance team for national awards in governmental financial reporting.
The meeting ended after routine board business and announcements.
