Township told of 11% insurance premium increase; fire-vehicle deductible raised for high-value apparatus

At the May 6 meeting Decker Insurance Agency presented the township's policy renewal and told board members the overall premium increased about 11 percent for the coming year.
Ryan of Decker Insurance explained part of the increase stems from the Providence policy for the fire department: last year the township paid $1,100 for a partial-year charge, and this year the full-year charge is $1,800. He also noted a standard 5 percent inflation guard applied and that, increasingly for high-value fire vehicles, deductibles for vehicles valued over $100,000 will be set at $2,500. Ryan left renewal packets for board members and said he and Casey Oatley would follow up to answer any remaining questions. "I know that sounds terrible," Ryan said, referring to the increase.
