Mendon Township board appoints Casey Oatley as new fire chief

The Mendon Township Board voted May 6 to appoint Casey Oatley as Mendon Township's new Fire Chief after the township's Fire Board recommended his appointment.
Clerk Donna Cupp told the board that at an earlier Fire Board meeting that evening, Avery recommended appointing Oatley and that the Fire Board motion (moved by Griffith and supported by Watson and Batten) carried. The township board then voted on the township-level appointment: Jan Griffith moved to accept Casey Oatley as the new Fire Chief; Jim Hart supported the motion and it carried.
Board members offered a brief welcome to Chief Oatley. No further personnel actions were recorded at the meeting.
The appointment takes effect immediately as a board action recorded in the May 6 minutes; any departmental onboarding or formal swearing-in was not recorded in the minutes.
