At its April 30 public meeting the Michigan Public Service Commission approved a series of largely uncontested orders covering communications, electric, gas and steam matters.
Key approvals included an order implementing provisions of Public Act 179 of 1991 to establish timing and format for basic local exchange service area data collection (U-21869) and licensing MCV Retail Company LLC as an alternative electric supplier with a requirement to file a renewable energy plan (U-22022). The Commission approved several utility project and contract filings, including DTE Electric Company agreements tied to the Trenton Channel Energy Center and multiple project approvals in U-22054; the Attorney General's request to convert that matter to a contested proceeding was denied in the order.
The Commission also approved power supply cost recovery plans for Consumers Energy (U-21592) and DTE Electric (U-21594) for the 12 months ended Dec. 31, 2025 and accepted Consumers Energy's five‑year forecast where noted. Gas matters approved included Bluewater Gas Storage's temporary revision of a logging schedule (U-20745), DTE Gas's reconciliation of costs and revenues for its gas cost recovery plan (U-21272), and several Consumers Energy pipeline and meter‑testing waiver filings (U-21992, U-21993, U-21995). All motions on the consent and contested items were adopted by unanimous vote as recorded in the meeting.
What happens next: the orders take effect per their terms and any required filings (tariff filings, reporting templates, or renewable plans) were directed to be filed within the periods specified in the orders.
