Michigan PSC approves multiple utility orders, reopens limited rehearing in Consumers Energy case

The Michigan Public Service Commission on April 17 unanimously approved a series of orders ranging from a permanent telecom license to accounting treatment for a solar project, and granted limited rehearing in a Consumers Energy renewable-plan case to permit additional briefing on a statutory interpretation issue.
Among the votes the commission approved the following by unanimous voice vote: a permanent license for Interactive Services Networks, Inc. (case U-219592); adoption of a funding factor for the low-income energy assistance fund (case U-17377); consolidation and contested-proceeding status and an intervention by Tilden Mining Co. in Upper Michigan Energy Resources Corporation's voluntary green pricing matter (case U-18356); revised interconnection procedures for Northern States Power Company (case U-21455); denial of a petition for rehearing in case U-21813; ex parte approval of deferred accounting for incremental costs associated with the Renegade Solar Project (case U-22035); and approval of DTE Gas Company's gas cost-recovery plan for the 12-month period ending March 31, 2026 (case U-21608).
On case U-21816 (Consumers Energy amended renewable-energy plan), the commission granted rehearing on a single statutory-interpretation issue and reopened the evidentiary record for that issue to allow parties to submit additional evidence and briefing, with the goal of moving toward final resolution this summer.
Staff attorney Charlie Kavanagh explained that the proposed orders and minute actions had been vetted by the commission's technical and legal staff. Commissioners offered no recorded dissents during votes taken on the consent items and other orders.
