MPSC approves several electric orders including green pricing updates and a Mustang Mile PPA

Lansing — The Michigan Public Service Commission on Jan. 19, 2026 approved multiple routine electric matters on its consent agenda, voting unanimously to adopt the proposed orders and minute actions.
Staff attorney Alyssa Day presented five items on the consent agenda. The commission approved an amended application in case U-18353 from Indiana Michigan Power Company seeking ex parte approval of updates to its voluntary green pricing program. The commission also approved case U-21090, which involves Consumers Energy Company's requests for ex parte approval of updates to its full avoided cost rate under the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 and an update to the bundled outflow rate for the Simple Renewable Program (covering applications filed Aug. 7 and Nov. 3, 2025).
Separately, the commission approved on its own motion case U-21374, adopting the January 5, 2026 joint stipulation and related orders to implement necessary regulatory reviews and approvals for Consumers Energy to comply with section 61 of Public Act 342 of 2016. The commission also approved case U-21816, which authorizes the conversion of the Mustang Mile solar energy project build-transfer agreement to a power purchase agreement; staff noted the order approves the Dec. 2, 2025 application.
Each motion to approve the listed orders was moved, seconded and carried by unanimous vote of the commissioners present. The items were described by staff as having been vetted by technical and legal staff and ready for approval. No substantive public comment or extended debate on these consent items was recorded during the meeting.
