MPSC approves a slate of orders on green pricing, undergrounding, EWR plans and rate-case matters

Key approvals included:
• Upper Peninsula Power Company (case U-21152) — approval to continue its voluntary green pricing program.
• Electric undergrounding docket (case U-21388) — commission invited comment on staff's electric undergrounding report, following public input after the March 2025 Northern Michigan ice storm.
• DTE Electric and DTE Gas four-year EWR plans (case U-21681) — settlement approved that includes workforce development commitments, prioritizing low-income and environmental justice communities and a neighborhood approach to aggregated installations.
• Northern States Power (case U-21812) — settlement approved on amended renewable energy and multi-state integrated resource planning.
• Consumers Energy rate-case rehearing petitions (case U-21870) — commission granted rehearing petitions as set forth in the order.
• Indiana Michigan Power (case U-21968) — the commission directed a contested-case proceeding on proposed jurisdictional allocation methodology.
• Reliability-based demand curve opt-out (case U-21998) — staff direction set for the 2026–2027 planning year and a proposed process for 2027–2028 with opportunity for public comment.
Most motions were moved, seconded and approved by unanimous vote. Staff attorney Leah Art introduced and summarized the consent and contested items. The commission also announced the 2026 regular meeting schedule of 19 meetings, typically Thursdays at 1 p.m., to be posted to the commission website.
