River Ridge CDD agrees to support storm-surge resilience planning

Eric Long described a five- to ten-year resilience plan that could include an advisory/review panel, coordination with neighboring West Bay and potential Army Corps concepts if funding becomes available. He cited a hypothetical Hurricane Milton surge model showing a 10–12 foot surge could flood 45%–55% of the community, and said some mitigation panels and measures may be inadequate on their own.
Mr. Long asked the CDD to designate a board representative and staff or engineering contacts to help coordinate the effort. The consensus designated Mr. Long and newly appointed Mr. Merrill to assist, and authorized District Engineer Charlie Krebs to participate as necessary.
